RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) with Laser Lithotripsy

Home > RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) with Laser Lithotripsy

RIRS is an advanced endoscopic procedure used to remove kidney stones through a natural orifice without any surgical incisions. A flexible ureteroscope is passed through the urethra and bladder up to the kidney, where laser energy is used to break the stone into dust-like fragments that can be flushed out through urine.

This technique is ideal for stones that are less than 2 cm in size and located in complex or hard-to-reach areas of the kidney. RIRS avoids the risks of open surgery, involves minimal bleeding, and allows faster recovery. Patients typically experience less post-operative discomfort and can resume daily activities within a short period.

At Baby Memorial Hospital, RIRS with laser lithotripsy is performed using cutting-edge scopes and holmium laser systems. Our urology team ensures complete stone clearance and individualised care for each patient, with a focus on safety, success rate, and minimal
